How To Steer Clear From Acne

by Sig January 05, 2012 00:08

Avoid Touching Your Face

Do you suffer from breakouts? Aside from avoiding the pop-that-pimple routine, you should be able to keep your hands from your face unless you are sure that your hands are clean. Avoiding this would help a lot for those who have acne. Do not lean on objects that collect dirt and oil i.e. your phone, your desk or even a book.

Touching your face often will only spread the bacteria on your pores and will cause inflammation and of course irritation. To make sure that bacteria does not get to your pores, make sure that you wash your hands regularly and also wash your hands before applying anything on your face i.e. makeup or creams.

Clean Your Glasses

For those who wear spectacles or glasses and even those who wear sunglasses on a regular basis, make sure that you clean the frames of these glasses to keep the oil coming from these items from clogging your pores especially those around your nose and eyes.

No To Tight Clothes

For those who get acne not only on the face but on other parts of the body as well, make sure that you get the right size of clothes. Wearing tight outfits causes the pores to be clogged since they do not have enough room to breathe. Tight clothes also cause irritation on the skin.

Makeup Removal And Other Tips

Another thing one should remember is to remove makeup before going to bed. One also has to be more vigilant when buying makeup because some makeups cause acne. Make sure that you buy brands that are nonacnegenic so that you won’t have to deal with acne later on.

If you are a frequent makeup user, you should make sure that all your makeup items are in good condition and are not expired. If a certain item in your makeup kit already smells odd, you should just throw it away.

Skin Care for Acne: Don't Pop those Pimples!

by Sig December 16, 2011 22:46

The skin is often difficult to manage especially when you wake up one day and see a pimple on your face or a cold sore near your mouth. Do not fret though because there are ways to prevent these things from happening.

For those who have acne, one has to know what causes it first before finding a solution. A pimple appears when the pores are closed with sebum and debris. Sebum’s function is to lubricate the skin and the hair but as with everything, too much of something is a bad thing. To prevent a breakout or breakouts for that matter, you would have to wash your face twice a day. You can do this more if your face is oily. For growing boys or those who already have hit puberty, you should wash your face more often because male skin is different from female skin since it produces more oil. Do not scrub your skin though because it will only cause irritation.

If you think your skin is producing too much oil, you can buy a lotion that contains benzoyl peroxide because this substance will help decrease bacteria in the skin and also decrease oil.

Another important reminder not only for growing boys is to not pop your pimples because this will only let the bacteria spread to the rest of your face. We understand that it is quite tempting to do this especially the ones with pus in it but doing this will only spread the infection and will also leave a scar on your face. No one wants to be called scarface or crater face really. If you are going to an important event like your prom or a party or even your wedding, just go to a dermatologist and have him or her treat it for you. This is the best way to get rid of it without popping it.

Lack of Sleep & Acne: The Real Score

by Sig September 19, 2011 01:12

Does lack of sleep aid in the development of acne? The answer is a big YES. It does. Sleep deprivation affects the skin in a way and may lead to acne. Do we have proof? Alright, fasten your seatbelts and we shall explain how this happens.

Just like a good diet, sleep is needed by the body and it is not optional. Many people say that they can sleep all they want when they’re dead but what if while you are alive you are plagued with acne? If you are tired of pimple flare ups, you should get some sleep. Extreme sleep deprivation is dangerous. In fact, it can lead to death so think about it as maintenance for your body and your skin too.

Not getting enough shut eye results to a few serious complications i.e. weight gain, depression, negative attitude, increase in insulin resistance, stress and inflammation. The last two things can cause acne and you sure you wouldn’t want that. If we may, the list is some list just for not getting enough sleep. This means that you should get enough sleep.

So lack of sleep causes depression and may make you gain weight, what does it got to do with acne? Alright, the truth is, scientists have not yet singled out the things that cause acne except of course from dead skin build up and impurities on the skin. What is interesting is, health in general is a holistic system –every part is connected to the other so basically, there is no single element that can be singled out that affects acne. It is not that simple.

Sleep affects one’s health and not getting enough will only make your overall health a lot worse especially if you do not eat a balanced diet. The body needs to be maintained –we are only human after all so to keep it in tiptop shape, you must take care of it and by extension, you will be clearing up your skin along the way.

Keeping Your Skin Pimple Free

by Sig April 04, 2010 22:59

You can almost feel it coming – a tiny blot of red blisterthat seems to taint the flawlessness of your skin. Everything starts off with aminimal itchiness up until the scratches bear a little sensitive swollen lumpon a specific portion of your face. The growing anxiety of hurting your smoothand silky skin looms; and as days progress, the inevitable becomes more andmore imminent – a pimple!

Pimples, also referred to as blackheads or acnes, usuallypop out due to skin inflammation or irritation. Our skin is composed of tinypores that need the best care and treatment. If not treated with care, the dirtthat accumulates through the skin pores becomes pimples. Anyone can actually becomea pimple victim. Pimples practically appear without any sign or warning. It isin this regard that many of us exert extra effort in keeping our skin healthy, smooth, and pimple-free. From the start of our adolescence when pimples usuallystart to pop out down to our maturity years when pimples would still attack ourskin once in a while, desperate measures have been taken in order to conquerthe spreading of pimples on our faces to such extent that other people evenresort to the most expensive facial methods to get rid of the pimples on theirfaces.

If you are one of thepeople who lose the hope of getting back a skin so soft and free of acnes, youmay want to consider the following effective and efficient yet affordable waysto gain back your beautiful skin.

  1. It is best to always keep your skin clean. Our skin has natural oil but usually produces too much. It is the oil that does not come out from the pores that causes pimples to pop out. It is then definitely wise to use facial or skin cleansers that are oil-free. You just have to be careful during application as you must note not to scrub your face too hard because our skin is very sensitive that hard scouring may destroy our skin’s natural beauty.
  2. Be very careful in choosing your skin care products. Always consider the quality of what you use as other products might be too harsh for your skin. Consider seeking professional services as dermatologists will know what would be suitable for your skin type.
  3. It is also wise to get used to natural cleansing methods. Simply wash your face with a regular mild soap and water twice every day. Nothing beats the natural way of avoiding dirt that may clog your pores.
  4. In the event that pimples already surfaced, do not try popping the pimples using your fingers. This will cause bacteria to spread and might infect other skin areas. Avoid touching your face every now and then and always maintain clean fingers to avoid spread of dirt on your face.
  5. Avoid too much heat or humid temperature because it causes the skin to produce excess oil. Maintaining a healthy and balanced diet is also a great help towards a smooth and fine looking skin. Food intake of dishes rich in minerals, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E is also a plus.
