No one wants to experience the irritation and embarrassment of having acne. Acne is perhaps one of the most common skin problems of teens and is also a leading skin irritation among many adults. About 17 million people are affected by acne. You've heard this before, eat right, drink lots of water and it still does not seem to work. Well it is not that having a proper diet is wrong or does not work, maybe you are not doing it right.

Using olive oil for cooking and as a dressing for salads helps you control a breakout. Eating non-fat or even low fat dairy products can help lessen pimples on the face. Eating plenty of salads, vegetables and fruits is the best thing you can do. The vitamins coming from these foods are beneficial to the skin. If elimination of pimples is your focus, eating fruits and vegetables with high fiber content is advisable.

Foods that are rich in vitamin A and beta carotene also give you the needed nutrients for your skin. These goods will not treat your acne per se but it will alleviate the occurrence of a breakout. If you feel you have done everything to get rid of your pimples and nothing works, it may be time to consult with an acupuncturist.

Oriental Medicine has existed for thousands of years now and has treated many a chronic ailment. One of the most popular oriental techniques is acupuncture. Acne acupuncture will not hurt at all. It will start with the therapist checking for your pulse and your tongue since this is the window to the body's internal chemistry. After that, you will be asked a few questions so that your acupuncturist will know which areas to target.
