How To Get Rid Of Blackheads

by Sig July 21, 2011 23:21

Blackheads are annoying –everyone can attest to that except maybe those who do not care about their skin. How does a blackhead appear on your face or on any part of your body? A blackhead is created when built up oil clogs the pores and this built up oil is also mixed with dead skin cells.

Once these pores are open and the oil interacts with oxygen, the stuff inside turn into a blackhead. There are many things you can do to prevent blackheads from appearing on your skin. This can be through washing your face more intensely than before or using cleansing agents that will get rid of excess oil. It would be best to avoid using creamy or greasy products because this just exacerbates oil production on the skin. Using a gentle acne cleanser will do the trick too. Using an exfoliant is also a good idea because exfoliants get rid of dead skin cells making it possible for the pores to be free of dead skin cells that may cause a blockage.

Although there are a lot of ways for you to prevent blackheads from appearing, what if you already have them and you just want to get rid of them? Blackheads are unsightly and as much as possible, we would like to be rid of them. It is however quite impossible to not leave a blemish when gently squeezing blackheads to get the hardened dead skin and oil out. There is a home remedy you can use though and this involves cornstarch and vinegar. All one has to do is mix cornstarch with vinegar –any type of vinegar will do then spread the mixture on the affected area. You should leave it on for 30 minutes. After that, you should wash it off with warm water.

Goodbye Crow's Feet

by Sig March 29, 2010 18:57

Get rid of Crow's feet permanently by using natural remedies. Many women today consider crow's feet a very severe problem because it makes us look old. Well you no longer have to look old because you can get a cure for this type of facial aging. Here's how:

1. Get egg white.

2. Dab the egg white on those unsightly lines.

3. Finish with vegetable oil.

When you are at step 3 already then you are done and you can finally get a good night's rest. How does this regimen work? Egg protein is a great ingredient that can erase those fine lines. Do this every night before you go to bed and you will notice that the fine lines are slowly disappearing.

You should also try a face mask that will help firm your facial skin. Do this every other night so you can make room for the egg white procedure. To make a firming face mask you would need the followng:

1 tbsp honey

1 tsp glycerine

1 egg white

1/4 cup flour

Instructions:

1. Whisk together all the ingredients.

2. Apply it on your face and on your throat.

3. Leave it for 10 minutes.

4. Rinse with warm water.

EVIS MD Platinum Facial Light Therapy

by Catherine April 07, 2009 06:58

EVIS MD Platinum Facial Light TherapyEVIS MD Platinum Facial Light Therapy is the latest at home laser designed to help fight acne and aging skin. It is a medical grade anti-aging red light therapy device that provides a 3 minute instant lift and facial contouring to targeted areas, improving the appearance of sun-damaged skin, and increasing collagen and elastin production. It employs wavelength at optimal power intensity that are medically proven to address those problems associated with aging skin. LED therapy stimulates the natural healing process of the skin, making repairs to environmental insults. LED light therapy is safe, non-invasive, painless and requires no down time and suitable for most skin types and concerns.

What I love about EVIS is that it costs the same as one photofacial treatment at a medispa. And it usually takes 3 or 4 medispa treatments to show significant results, so having this at home is cost effective as well as convenient. My big thing is skin discoloration, like freckles and under eye circles, and this light therapy treats it effectively.  It takes is a once-weekly targeted treatment to achieve and maintain results (but if you’d like to illuminate your issues even more often, it’s perfectly safe to do so).

Based on the reviews I have read about this product, it should be used more often than the directions call for. Some reviews said it took them about 15 minutes every morning and evening for 10 weeks to see optimal results.

Inexpensive, At Home Spa Treatments

by Catherine February 03, 2009 08:33

Many people enjoy having a facial, but not everyone enjoys paying a spa $100 and up to get one, especially when money is tight. Many times the facials you get at a Spa are as simple as the ones we have listed, but you can do them at home for $5 or less.

Pumpkin Enzyme Mask

Natural enzymes in pumpkin help to peel away (exfoliate) dead cells, revealing smoother and brighter skin. Pumpkin facial products can cost up to $80, but this quick and easy mask can be created in your own kitchen with leftovers from parties and other celebrations. This mask is a great clarifying treatment for those with oily and combination skin types.

1/4c Pumpkin Purée

1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon

1 Tsp Grated Fresh Ginger

3 Tsp Honey

Juice of 1/2 a Lemon

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix together. Lightly massage onto clean, dry skin and let the mask sit for 5 -10 minutes. Rinse the skin with lukewarm water and pat the skin dry.

Matcha Green Tea Facial Mask

Matcha Green Tea Mask is appropriate for all skin types, but especially effective for those with mature and aging skin. Matcha (green tea) powder is full of powerful antioxidants and can be found online or at an Asian specialty store. As an alternative to Matcha powder, cut open a few natural green tea bags (beware of additives and flavored green teas). Silken tofu adds a silky texture while hydrating and soothing the skin. Honey and lemon exfoliate and brighten the complexion.

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp Matcha (green tea) Powder

1/3 Cup Soft Silken Tofu

1 Tbsp Honey

Juice of 1/2 a Lemon

Use paper towels or a fine cheesecloth to squeeze excess moisture from the tofu. The resulting texture will resemble a moist feta cheese. Mix the ingredients together in a non-reactive bowl. Apply to clean, dry skin on the face, neck and décolleté areas. Leave the mask on for 10 - 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water, pat your skin dry, and apply your favorite moisturizer.

Hydrating Oatmeal Body Mask

Oatmeal is the perfect natural remedy for dry and itchy skin. This mask is a favorite for dry climates and during the winter season. It soothes and hydrates the skin.

Ingredients:

1c prepared plain oatmeal (leftover from the breakfast pot is perfect)

1/2c whole milk (please do not substitute skim)

3 tbsp honey

After cleansing your body, restart your shower or bath water on hot and close the bathroom door to collect steam. Combine the oatmeal, whole milk and honey in a food processor and purée until smooth. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and microwave for 30 – 60 seconds, until warm, but not scorching. You may now stir in a few drops of your favorite essential oil for added aromatherapy (optional). Return to your bathroom with the heated mask. Massage the mask into your skin in the steam-filled bathroom and let it sit for up to 10 – 15 minutes. Lower the water temperature to warm, and rinse off. Lightly towel dry and immediately apply your favorite moisturizer.
