What Causes Dandruff?

Although most of us would think or assume that baby shampoo is extra mild, it’s not exactly a good choice for adults looking for a mild shampoo especially when one is trying to get rid of dandruff.

Baby shampoo might be good for some adults but those with oily hair are advised to use stronger shampoo.

If you want to get rid of dandruff, you must determine what is causing it first. Contrary to what many people would say, dandruff is caused by oil glands that work too hard –overactive to be specific. Oil on the scalp can cause irritation and can encourage the growth of certain bacteria that later on cause the scalp to look scaly.

Aside from overactive oil glands, dandruff can also be triggered by food allergies, excessive perspiration, stress, or harsh shampoo. It is also important to note that dandruff is usually more severe during wintertime than in the summer. One must know though that dandruff doesn’t go away, it only needs to be managed by finding out which shampoo works with your scalp best.

Having dandruff may signal a lot of things. For one, your body could be telling you that you aren’t using the right shampoo or that you may have to take care of the excess oil being produced by your skin hence the need for a dietary change i.e. no longer eating fatty foods or that you may be stressed out that’s why your glands are working double time.

Whichever the case, you should be able to determine what’s causing your dandruff for you to know how to treat it. If you are stressed out, it would be best to de-stress if there is such a word by going to a spa somewhere or just get enough rest. If you think you are producing too much oil, it may be time to eat healthier foods.

Apple cider vinegar is not your regular ingredient –much like olive oil, apple cider vinegar is used as home remedy for various ailments. Here are a few of the reasons why you should always have apple cider vinegar in your home.

Apple Cider Vinegar: A Cure For Dandruff

Rinsing your hair off with apple cider vinegar will stop the itching on your scalp and can help in minimizing the occurrence of dandruff. Dandruff can be rather annoying and if you have done everything to get rid of it and nothing’s working –apple cider vinegar will save your hair and your scalp. Apple cider vinegar is a natural disinfectant making it an effective germ-killer that’s why it is a good product to have in your home in case you are having a dandruff bout.

Cure For Plantar Warts

Plantar warts are benign epithelial tumors classified under HPV specifically HPV[1] 1, 2, 4 or 63. These are usually found on a person’s feet and can cause a lot of pain. If you are looking for a cure for plantar warts without going to the doctor, you should go to the grocer’s immediately and buy some apple cider vinegar. All you have to do is apply it on your warts on a daily basis for a month and that stubborn wart will be history.

Warts On Private Areas

Sexually transmitted warts are stuff no one wants to have but if you have to deal with them, you better try removing the warts by applying apple cider vinegar first. Your doctor will usually prescribe a rather expensive topical product for those warts but what the doctor doesn’t tell you is that apple cider vinegar is more effective. You would have to apply apple cider vinegar on the affected areas religiously for at least a month. The vinegar will burn off those warts. You will save a lot of money from this because medical procedures for the removal of warts on private areas are rather expensive.

[1] Majority of the known HPV conditions cause no symptoms on humans however some of them can cause warts while others lead to the development of warts leading to cancer in areas such as the cervix, the vulva, the vagina, the anus in women and in the anus and the penis in men.

Apple Cider Vinegar: A Cure For Dandruff

by Sig February 09, 2012 07:45

In my quest to get rid of dandruff, I have tried almost everything –from the most popular products to the least known to home remedies. Although some of the home remedies actually work and popular products work too (from time to time) I have never found one method that actually gets rid of itchiness on one’s scalp and gets rid of dandruff altogether. Many say that dandruff is just a cosmetic problem but one has to remember that it can cause certain infections on the skin and can even affect other parts of the body such as the ears. This is the reason why there are some people with ear dandruff.

The Experiment

What I did is shampoo my hair thoroughly with my favorite shampoo. After washing the shampoo off, I dried my hair with a towel and then applied one cup of apple cider vinegar. I left it on my hair for about 10 minutes and then rinsed it off. I shampooed again after that. I waited for my hair to dry.

The Result

This may be hard to believe but my hair is now softer than ever and there is no more itching on my scalp. I don’t see any dandruff flakes either. Another great thing about this experiment is that my hair is now shinier and easier to manage.

The Explanation

In the pH scale, hair is mildly acidic which means that its pH is almost the same as that of apple cider vinegar. Rinsing with apple cider vinegar helps in balancing the pH of your hair and your scalp. The great thing about apple cider vinegar is that it kills bottle bacillus –the bacterium that causes dandruff and itchy scalp.

What if I do not have apple cider vinegar at home?

You can use any type of vinegar but please do not use synthetic ones. Vinegar of any kind whether we’re talking about sugarcane vinegar or any other type, is a natural antiseptic. It kills all sorts of germs.
