Although most of us would think or assume that baby shampoo
is extra mild, it’s not exactly a good choice for adults looking for a mild
shampoo especially when one is trying to get rid of dandruff.
Baby shampoo might be good for some adults but those with
oily hair are advised to use stronger shampoo.
If you want to get rid of dandruff, you must determine what
is causing it first. Contrary to what many people would say, dandruff is caused
by oil glands that work too hard –overactive to be specific. Oil on the scalp
can cause irritation and can encourage the growth of certain bacteria that
later on cause the scalp to look scaly.
Aside from overactive oil glands, dandruff can also be
triggered by food allergies, excessive perspiration, stress, or harsh shampoo.
It is also important to note that dandruff is usually more severe during
wintertime than in the summer. One must know though that dandruff doesn’t go
away, it only needs to be managed by finding out which shampoo works with your
scalp best.
Having dandruff may signal a lot of things. For one, your
body could be telling you that you aren’t using the right shampoo or that you
may have to take care of the excess oil being produced by your skin hence the
need for a dietary change i.e. no longer eating fatty foods or that you may be
stressed out that’s why your glands are working double time.
Whichever the case, you should be able to determine what’s
causing your dandruff for you to know how to treat it. If you are stressed out,
it would be best to de-stress if there is such a word by going to a spa
somewhere or just get enough rest. If you think you are producing too much oil,
it may be time to eat healthier foods.
