Dark Underarms: Solutions

by Sig September 15, 2011 23:44

Have dark underarms? Worry not, there are solutions to your problem.

Constant friction in the underarms i.e. rubbing against surrounding skin and tight clothing can cause dark underarms. It can also be caused by shaving, improper washing and usage of deodorants. Now we are not saying that you shouldn’t use deodorants anymore because that would cause body odor –so what is a woman to do?

Dark underarms can be caused by dead skin buildup, sweat and other impurities. What you can do to lighten it a bit is to exfoliate. There are a lot of exfoliating products available in the market today. One example is St. Ives Apricot Scrub. You can exfoliate every week to get rid of all the dead skin residues. Do not overdo exfoliation though because this will only irritate your skin.

Another solution is to rub lemon slices on your underarms. After doing this you would have to apply moisturizer so that your skin does not go dry. Applying vitamin E oil is also good after rubbing lemon slices on underarm skin.

If you think it’s your deodorant that has caused your armpits to darken, it may be time to use an alternative deodorant. Instead of using the commercial ones, you can concoct one in your own home. All you would need is 4 tablespoons of baking soda mixed with your bathwater. Once you have patted yourself dry with a towel, you can apply baking soda on your underarms. You can also use cornstarch or vinegar although the latter is not advisable for use when you are going outside to do some strenuous activities. It would be best however if you buy an organic deodorant that also contains salicylic acid so that it will help in whitening the skin on the armpits.

Whitening Dark Underarms

by Sig July 06, 2011 04:55

Dark underarms are normal since the armpits always rub each other but before you blame it all on anatomy, you should also take into consideration the fact that you pluck hair on your armpits or you shave them –this can cause darkening of the underarms.

Deodorants can also cause damage on the underarms that is why it is advised to use alum powder instead of alcohol-based deodorants.

A few of the best regimens to whiten dark underarms is applying lemon or calamansi juice –leaving it on for a few minutes after taking a bath. You can also mix some alum powder with it.

If you want to buy a product that whitens underarm skin, you can try Medliten. It is one of the safest whitening products in the US and whitens dark underarms.

There are other underarm creams you can use and if you do not have any skin lightening products available from where you live, you can always rely on home remedies.

Yoghurt is known as a good ingredient that mends the skin –and yes, that includes the armpits. You can apply some yoghurt on your underarms and leave it there for a good 20 minutes or so. You can also put milk on them if you want. Milk proteins both from yoghurt and milk can make the skin look better. Mending the skin is the first step to getting lighter skin in your armpits. After that, you should maintain it by not abusing your armpits by using a razor.

Another wonderful tip to whiten dark underarms is using a concoction of curd, milk and flour.

You can add some turmeric to this paste too then apply it on the underarms. Leave the paste to dry then wash it off completely afterwards. Sandalwood powder is also a good paste, just add either rose water or water and you are good to go.
