Lip Implants

Lip implants are for those of you who have had your lips plumped, like the look, and want to make it permenant.  They are a biocompatible substance (meaning it will be accepted by your body without incident) that is inserted in your lips. The doctor injects the implant into the corner of the lips with a needle and then shapes the material with his fingers. A local anesthetic is given before hand, so it is relatively painless.

There are, however, some drawbacks to getting lip implants. There are risks - lumps, infection, asymmetrical pout, numbness, and/or migration.

The procedure costs between $2,000 and $5,000.

Personally, I think the only way lip implants look good is if they are very small and in proportion with your face.

This image of actress Nikki Cox is a good example of overdoing it. She used to be pretty, but those huge lips look like sausage rolls.

This 26 yr. old subject below received augmentation of both upper and lower lips to achieve "fuller poutier" lips. I like her 'before' look better, the 'after' looks fake to me.
