Did you go for a Botox treatment and it “didn’t take”? If someone at a med spa or doctor administering the Botox tells you that and suggest you need more they aren’t being honest with you. The facts are there are only three reasons why Botox doesn’t work: the Botox has been watered down, the Botox has been spoiled or out of date, or the person administering it doesn’t know what they are doing. Also, you may not have gotten enough put in, but the technician should know how much you need.
I have been getting Botox treatments every three months for the last four years without fail, and I have experienced all of the above. I have a regular person I go to who is wonderful and the results are always perfect and I get what I pay for, but there have been times my regular person was out of town or otherwise unavailable when I needed an appointment. Three times to be exact, and each of those three times I basically got ripped off by either watered down Botox or someone who didn’t know what they were doing. And when I went back for the “two week results consultation”, I was told it “didn’t take” and I needed more. This is a scam! Honestly if I’m even asked back for a two week consult I’m wary. Botox done correctly does not “not take”. The bottom line is Botox is a toxin that paralyzes the muscles, that means the treated area should not move at all. The above picture is an accurate before and after of a treated forehead. She is trying to move her forehead in the second picture and, well, it’s not moving.
The price for Botox is very competitive, so unfortunately some people will take advantage or that and offer a very low price per unit and then water it down. The results are always poor with semi-movement in the muscle which often times looks worse than the natural movement.
If you have experienced Botox not working, don’t go back to the place where you had it administered. Your best bet is asking around and find someone with a good reputation. Also, don’t be fooled into thinking a plastic surgeon must be reputable, because I have seen many friends go that route with bad results.
