Have dark underarms? Worry not, there are solutions to your problem.
Constant friction in the underarms i.e. rubbing against surrounding skin and tight clothing can cause dark underarms. It can also be caused by shaving, improper washing and usage of deodorants. Now we are not saying that you shouldn’t use deodorants anymore because that would cause body odor –so what is a woman to do?
Dark underarms can be caused by dead skin buildup, sweat and other impurities. What you can do to lighten it a bit is to exfoliate. There are a lot of exfoliating products available in the market today. One example is St. Ives Apricot Scrub. You can exfoliate every week to get rid of all the dead skin residues. Do not overdo exfoliation though because this will only irritate your skin.
Another solution is to rub lemon slices on your underarms. After doing this you would have to apply moisturizer so that your skin does not go dry. Applying vitamin E oil is also good after rubbing lemon slices on underarm skin.
If you think it’s your deodorant that has caused your armpits to darken, it may be time to use an alternative deodorant. Instead of using the commercial ones, you can concoct one in your own home. All you would need is 4 tablespoons of baking soda mixed with your bathwater. Once you have patted yourself dry with a towel, you can apply baking soda on your underarms. You can also use cornstarch or vinegar although the latter is not advisable for use when you are going outside to do some strenuous activities. It would be best however if you buy an organic deodorant that also contains salicylic acid so that it will help in whitening the skin on the armpits.
